DENLAR range hood system extinguishes fire at Bridgeport Housing Authority
According to Maintenance Director Jed Ferrante, his staff responded to reports of a non-working range and discovered that the fire suppression system had discharged, disabling the stove in the process. The reported fire was significant enough to cause charring to the adjacent cabinets but further damage was prevented by the hood’s integrated, fire suppression system. The resident confirmed leaving the apartment with food frying on the stove, and returning to find the stove disabled and evidence of an extinguished grease fire.
The impact of this event is clear; both in the lives that were saved and property damage that was avoided. After 2009’s devastating event, BHA recognized that their facility needed a higher level of protection, especially where cooking fires were concerned. They identified the DENLAR hood system as the most intelligent and cost effective solution for their needs; and are in the midst of upgrading each individual residence to this new level of kitchen range-top fire protection. By taking this proactive step to stop cooking fires, The Bridgeport Housing Authority has created a safer environment for its residents while also protecting the value of its state-owned facility.
DENLAR Fire Protection designs and manufactures this innovative fire safety product at their Chester, CT facility and distributes the line through an international network of commercial distributors and residential showrooms.
